Directed by a small group of energetic and dedicated Trustees, the Glenorchy Community Trust’s mission is to support initiatives that align with the community’s shared vision and values, fostering the vibrancy and resilience of the community at the head of Lake Wakatipu.
The Trust’s vision is that residents of Glenorchy live in a healthy, regenerative partnership with the natural environment, reflecting the community’s self-reliant, diverse, welcoming and innovative character.
A message from the Trustees
“We believe it is imperative that our natural environment remains healthy in order to support a thriving and prosperous community.
We aim to foster and preserve that which makes Glenorchy unique for future generations.”
Success Stories
Glenorchy Village Fair
Glenorchy Village Fair – Art on The Green was one of three successful applicants in this Spring’s grant applications (2019). Funds allocated toward supporting this Glenorchy Rural Women annual event helped provide advertising and live entertainment on the day – 24 November 2019.
Going Native
Sam de Reeper was firstly granted money to support his efforts in planting native trees around the Glenorchy area and has now been given more funds to go towards planting fruit trees so that the future community members can gather and enjoy these sweet treats every year.
Glenorchy Historic & Museum Group
The Glenorchy Heritage and Museum Group were delighted to be a recipient of a Community Grant, which will be used to fund two historic outposts to help tell the story of the Glenorchy Road.
